Vinicius Jr Named UEFA Player of the Year After Champions League Triumph
The Brazilian winger caps off an incredible season with individual recognition following Real Madrid's European glory.
Vinicius Junior has been crowned UEFA Men's Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, capping off what has been the most successful campaign of his career.
The Brazilian winger was instrumental in Real Madrid's Champions League triumph last season, scoring twice in the final against Manchester City and finishing as the competition's top scorer with 10 goals.
Speaking at the awards ceremony in Monaco, Vinicius expressed his gratitude: "This is a dream come true. When I was a young boy in Brazil, I used to watch the Champions League and dream of playing in it. To now be recognized as the best player in Europe is something I cannot put into words."
The 25-year-old beat out Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka to claim the prestigious award. His performances throughout the season showcased not only his electric pace and dribbling ability but also a newfound maturity in his decision-making.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez praised the winger's development: "Vinicius has grown tremendously as a player and as a person. He represents everything we stand for at Real Madrid - excellence, determination, and a winning mentality."
The award comes at a time when Vinicius has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the Ballon d'Or, with many experts predicting he could claim football's most prestigious individual honor later this year.
